Mo, her father, has a secret that Maggie has no clue about. Dustfinger, Mo’s friend, shows up at their house. Dustfinger knows Maggie but she doesn’t know him. Maggie, Mo, and Dustfinger are going to go live with Elinor, a family member that she doesn’t even know.  Mo has this book that Maggie has never seen before.
